Essential Oils

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are oils derived from natural substances, such as seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Once extracted from the plant, the oil has the “essential” aromatic and chemical properties of that plant. Some pharmaceuticals, and many over-the-counter or holistic remedies, are based on or contain essentials oils.

Ways essential oils are used.

  1. Aromatically: diffused or inhaled.
  2. Internally: can be used in cooking or taken as a dietary supplement.
  3. Topically: applied for massage and topical benefits.

How do essential oils work?

Being in oil form, the molecules the oil is made of are very easily absorbed by the body. Each oil has a unique composition which interacts with the various body systems.
